“Make-A-Friend” Ministry

Last weekend, the Pro-Life Committee introduced the “Make-A-Friend” Tree, that holds the names of many of our friends and parishioners, who are homebound or live in assisted living or nursing homes. Many of these individuals would love to have some company. If you have not done so yet, you are invited to check the tags on our “Make-A-Friend” tree to find someone with common interests. Whether you love reading, solving crossword puzzles, playing cards or board games, or just love to chat, the idea is to increase our own personal ministries to the homebound by giving them the gift of a weekly visit that they know they can look forward to! You can contact Theresa Shane at tscsjoblate@gmail.com or Michael Barrett in the office for more information. All parishioners who sign up to visit the homebound and those in assisted living or nursing homes (vulnerable adults), as well as those who take communion to the homebound, are REQUIRED to attend our VIRTUS – Protecting God’s Children (PGC) safe environment training and are subject to a background check. VIRTUS sessions are available here at St. Peter’s today, December 17th from 2:00pm – 5:00pm and January 9th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Volunteers must attend one of these sessions or another session offered by the Archdiocese prior to serving in this ministry. You can register for VIRTUS online at http://www.virtusonline.org.
