Parish Religious Education Program (PREP)

PREP Program – Pre-K through 8th Grade

StPetersPREP-NormalOur new religious education program, known as PREP, kicked off in 2013. The first catechists in any child’s life are the parents and family members of that child, however, St. Peter’s PREP is here to provide a solid foundation of Catholic Christian principles and Catholic Church teachings to assist the parents in the journey of lifelong faith formation with their children.

Jesus Christ is the greatest role model in the teaching of our faith and his example has been an inspiration to the faithful for over two thousand years. The mission of Religious Education is to bring together the essential components of knowledge, understanding, appreciation, and celebration of our rich tradition in order to introduce and develop our faith. The mission is entrusted to us through our calling, some as priests, deacons, and religious, and others as catechists, parents, and lay leaders within our parish community. This calling is a privilege that we cannot treat lightly.

The home or “domestic church” provides a real place in which a child learns to live his or her faith, applying the principles applied through Religious Education in the practices and activities in every day life. Our support through PREP is vital to complimenting the work of the parents in achieving their goal in guiding their children as they meet the daily challenges of living their Catholic faith.

St. Peter’s PREP utilizes the Alive in Christ curriculum along with other core materials to ensure our children receive proper catechesis that adheres to strong Catholic values while applying those lessons to the real world in which they find themselves today. PREP is held on Sunday mornings between the two masses from 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM.

Registration for the 2018-2019 school year is open now, with the registration deadline of August 19, 2018. PREP is open year-round, and new families are encouraged to register their child(ren) anytime. PREP sessions begin on Sunday, August 26, 2018.
