St. Peter’s Catholic Church in LaGrange, Georgia is seeking a part-time (28.5 hours per week) Director of Religious Education to work under the direction of the Pastor to coordinate a comprehensive faith formation program for children (grades PreK-8), teens (grades 9-12), and adults.
The DRE will be responsible for recruiting and training a small staff of volunteer catechists as well as implementing Sacramental Prep (First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation), RCIA/RCIC, Family Catechesis, and continuing Adult Faith Formation opportunities.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic, innovative, and energetic practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church who possesses a college degree in a related field and/or has 2-3 years of experience as a leader in Religious Education/Faith Formation and should be detail oriented, having excellent organizational & computer skills. Registration for ‘Shipwrecked: Rescued By Jesus’ is now open online via our website, or in person at the parish office. The cost for registration this year remains at $10 per child. VBS runs Monday, June 11 through Friday, June 15th from 9:00am to 12:00pm (noon) each day. You can register online by visiting our website and clicking the VBS logo on the left side of the page. The deadline for registration is Sunday, June 10th, 2018. Payment is due on the first day of VBS.
Mark your calendar for Summer Fest, which will be Sunday, June 3rd following the 11:00 am Mass. Each quarter, Fr. Tim would like to bring the parish together for informal gatherings to share in fun, food, and fellowship. Summer Fest will be celebration of the beginning of the summer season! Due to the inclement weather for our Spring Festival, we will have a dunk tank fundraiser for our youth group and bounce house activities for the kids. The CCW will coordinate a covered-dish potluck and the Knights of Columbus will be serving up their famous hot-dogs and hamburgers! Due to a death in his family, Fr. Tim will be traveling to New York on Thursday afternoon and returning on Saturday morning. The Friday Mass at noon will be moved to Thursday morning (tomorrow) at 9:00am. Please pray for Fr. Tim and his family.

St Peter’s Cursillo group will meet right after the 6:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday, May 19 with a “pot luck” meal in the parish
hall. There will be talks from Holger & Helga Kienlin about their experience since attending the Spring Cursillo Weekend. Parishioners interested in knowing more about Cursillo are invited to attend this get together. Come share a meal, find out more about Cursillo, and register for the upcoming weekends. Vacation Bible School will be held from June 11th – 15th this year. Our theme is “Shipwrecked: Rescued By Jesus”. Pictured to the left is our new friend Moe who will help our children discover that “when they are powerless, Jesus rescues”! Kids will have incredible Bible learning experiences that they can see, touch and even taste! We need many adult and teen leaders to help the program run smoothly.
